2011-2012 Holiday Season
The school year is is almost half over. The Fairfax County winter break starts soon and gives us all a chance to enjoy family and friends. We hope that everyone stays safe during the holiday season and returns in January with fun stories. Remember that the first Spring Trip payment is due in January, and we have concerts in both February and March.
New Pics from Parson's Brinkerhoff
On Tuesday, December 19, the Advanced Women's Choir visited Parsons Brinkerhoff in Herndon to renew an annual tradition of singing carols to the employees. In addition to a variety of holiday tunes, the Parsons Brinkerhoff staff was treated to a few of the competition songs that we all enjoyed from the recent winter concert. The girls were treated to pizza by the staff as a way of thanking them for sharing their incredible voices. Pictures from the event can be found here or by visiting our Photos Page.
Spring Trip Announcement
The HMS Band, Choir, and Orchestra will travel to Williamsburg, VA this year for their annual Spring Competition. We will attend a music festival, which gives us the opportunity to perform for a panel of distinguished judges. After we perform, we will spend the remainder of the day at Busch Gardens amusement park. This tradition has become very popular with our students and has proven to be both educational and fun for all!
Click here for the information flyer about the trip. All fees must be paid no later than Monday, January 23, 2012. Email Mr. Case if you have any questions.

Photos Online
This year, the online photo galleries will transition to Picasa. As was done before, all submitted pictures will be drastically reduced in size to permit faster browsing of the pictures. If you would like any high-quality copies for printing or your own personal picture gallery, simply email the webmaster with the album and picture name.
You Are Connected to Herndon High School Choir
Most (hopefully all) HMS Choir students will continue their choral studies at Herndon High School. Under the direction of Dana Van Slyke, Herndon Choir offers a wealth of choral experiences through its six ensembles, musical productions, and many other performance opportunities.
Choir is a great activity for students to help smooth their transition into high school. During this school year, middle school students will have the opportunity to perform with the high school choral ensembles. In addition to the chance to be on stage with the more experienced singers, middle school singers can learn about the high school's program, start planning their course selections, and make friends.
To learn more about the high school choral programs, visit the Herndon Choir website at www.HerndonChoir.com.
